WastewaterSCAN Program Update

This month, WastewaterSCAN entered a new phase of its wastewater monitoring program. As some of our dedicated data users have noticed, there is a change in the number of sites sampling. We continue to monitor for a dozen pathogens, working with wastewater treatment plants across 40 states that serve more than 39 million people and nearly 12% of the population. We worked closely with our partners, including wastewater treatment plants and public health officials, when considering the mix of sites that are working with us in this next phase.

All historical data will remain available to the public. We will continue to advance wastewater science through peer-reviewed publication, and collaborate with our partners to translate the data to help inform individual decision-making and public health actions.
